The Time of Darkness With the fall of France in the early years of World War II Britain passed the darkest hour because of the threat of invasion. Los West Europe now appears to be on the shoulders of newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill, unstoppable of Nazi and Alliedforces on the bank of Dunkirk.
